JALAN Masjid India traders in Kuala Lumpur who had to temporarily stop operating in the area are urged to be patient as the move is done based on safety reasons.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dr Zaliha Mustaffa said the safety of the trader is of utmost importance after the sinkhole incident in the area.“We have to ask them to stop operating due to safety reasons and if whatever happens to the traders, we will be responsible. “They can go on as usual with business once the situation at Jalan Masjid India is safe,” she said, during a press conference held after an engagement session with Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya stakeholders on the 2025 Federal Territories budget at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre .
This was after a tourist from India fell into the eight-metre-deep sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India after the ground gave way when she was walking to a nearby temple at 8.22am on Friday . Traders were asked to close as precautionary measures due to toxic gas that was released from the manhole.
