Almost every vendor and store allows customers to pay via QR codes, making it super convenient as carrying cash is no longer needed.

The #UpdateInfo X page recently showcased how a customer at a Malaysian store had allegedly edited a QR receipt to make it look like they had already made the payment.

They wrote, “There are more and more cases of QR pay scams these days and they’re always the same faces. So, to those who work cashier jobs, be careful.”Eventually, she makes her way to the counter where she stands around for a moment and fiddles with her phone again. This was when the woman allegedly edited a QR payment receipt.

Soon after, a QR payment receipt could be seen showing up on her phone screen and the customer showed it to the cashier, apparently to make it look like she had made the appropriate payment for their purchased item. Perhaps it’s time for businesses to install cashier systems that indicate when a QR payment has been received, as suggested by Malaysians.

“What I noticed these days is that when I make a QR payment, many stores have installed notification sounds that will chime everytime the transaction is done. Good lah, they won’t be tricked by people like this.”“Use the machine with notification sounds. If you don’t have that machine, then you have to check the payment status, date and time on their phones.”You can check out the video here: https://worldofbuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/video-21.
