A delegation of the National Council of Provinces is in Gauteng from today until Friday as part of their oversight mandate.

They will visit some of the incomplete, delayed and abandoned public infrastructure projects, including those relating to housing and road infrastructure development.NCOP Gauteng Whip, Jane Mananiso, says they want to ensure there’s accountability and that those in the wrong face consequences. “If you are told that the project is delayed because of some corrupt tendencies or involvement and interference by other local forums, we need to know whether cases were opened if not, why? Those things you need to follow through and make sure that people get to understand that we mean business. We are very clear on what we want to achieve in terms of accounting.
