Limpopo teacher Maserole Mojela is handed her certificate after scooping first place in Excellence in Teaching Natural Sciences at the category at the National Teaching Awards in Boksburg, Johannesburg on 05 October 2024.The Basic Education Department launched the awards 24 years ago to reward educators who often work under challenging circumstances.
Mojela, who teaches at Semorishi Primary School in Ga-Matlala, credits the school and her family for the achievement. “I am filled with gratitude and humility and more than anything, it is such an honour because in most cases when we do things, you just never know how great it could actually be and more than anything, it also validated that indeed the work that we do is quite good because it is a manifestation of what we do in class, its a manifestation of what we do in school level. It’s not just a me thing, it takes a community, my learners, they contributed to this and also my colleagues, and also my family.
