NEW YORK - The 1999 U.S. women’s team may defy comparison in the eyes of many soccer fans but, 20 years after their famous World Cup triumph, the challenges they faced are all too familiar with pay and conditions still at the top of the agenda.

“For the resources and for the ability that FIFA has to implement that change , they’re not doing nearly enough,” co-captain Megan Rapinoe said on Friday. “I hope that it’s just so much better than it is now.” Julie Foudy, a midfielder on the 1999 team, told Reuters earlier this week that she was “frustrated” there was still a need to pursue the dispute.

“I think it’s pretty clear women in sport have not been treated with the same care and financing that men’s sports has,” said Rapinoe.

It's quite simple, share the gate takings among the players. the men split the 100,000 ticket sales and the women can split the 50,000 ticket sales. They won't do that so why should investors and sponsors, build up a following and share the reward.

Meh.

Less investment from the 'great' US into the 'great' misogynistic KSA (alias 'ally') would be more important.

Want, want, want. As Rhonda Rousey would say and the MMA would agree..... you get paid to the proportion of money you bring in and NOT because the men's soccer teams get paid higher. Investors know to pay them more because their games have full seating every time.

They should get all the investment because the USMNT is a joke. You dont make the tournament then find your own funding. The women win that cup regularly, what's the dilemma here?

IB4 Neckbeards try to justify why this is happening.
