Young people facing the prospect of paying off someone else's investment property rather than owning a home of their own say it's high time serious steps were taken to address the housing crisis.

The housing crisis is one of the biggest issues facing politicians heading into the federal election next year.Anthony Albanese indicated earlier this month negative gearing reform would not be part of his election platform.
