KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board have joined forces to advance future technological initiatives in the palm oil industry.

"This was to show both party's commitment to accelerate the adoption of future technologies in the palm oil industry," read the statement issued on Saturday . "The initiative was a competition aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises and startups that sought to accelerate the development and adoption of advanced technologies for the palm oil industry.

Each winner received RM75,000 to further develop their solutions, which included innovations such as machinery reporting automation, AI-based fruit ripeness determination, and the use of drones and teleoperated systems for plantation navigation. The programme allowed for real-world testing and industry expert feedback, further validating the effectiveness of these innovative solutions and the connectivity solution under the oil palm canopy.
