Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Thursday that a food company, Kitchen Food Co., has chosen Kentucky for a facility that will employ more than 900 people. The company, an Australia-founded premium ready-meals business, will locate a prepared foods facility in Hopkinsville and create 925 jobs as part of its $69 million investment. This project ranks as the fifth-largest jobs project since Beshear took office in late 2019.
Beshear highlighted this announcement as a testament to Kentucky's strong economic momentum, noting that the state is experiencing its fourth-best year in history for economic investment. This year has seen 170 private sector new-location and expansion announcements totaling more than $6.9 billion in investments and 9,425 new full-time jobs. Since taking office, Kentucky has achieved its first-, second- and fourth-best years in state history for private-sector investments, with an average incentivized hourly wage for those new jobs topping $26 an hour for three straight years. Beshear expressed optimism about Kentucky's future, stating that the state is becoming a 'premier destination' for business and that the rest of the world is finally looking up to Kentucky
