One of the title sponsors was asked to come up to the stage to say a few words to the attendees about her business. She just had a baby and walked onstage with her sleeping newborn strapped to her chest. She gave her speech while gently swaying and patting that sweet baby’s bottom.Just as quickly though, I heard a murmur from someone sitting behind me “Why would she bring her baby here? Couldn’t she find a sitter?” Ugh. My heart sank. Maybe she couldn’t find a sitter. Maybe she wasn’t married.
As if running a business weren’t hard enough, we have to field the guilt trips that our male counterparts don’t.
