The DOJ approved the deal under the condition that Sprint would sell off Virgin Mobile, which it acquired in 2009, and its prepaid phone service, Boost Mobile, to Dish Networks. The companies will also have to give Dish access to at least 20,000 cell sites and hundreds of retail locations, as well as allow Dish to use their combined network for seven years while Dish builds out its own 5G network.: The FCC still has to approve the deal, but Republican chairman Ajit Pai has already signaled his support. But even then it’s not in the clear.
