KOTA KINABALU: Citizens of Sabah have a right to own land, especially those who have been applying for decades, says Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The Sabah Chief Minister said the Parti Warisan Sabah-led government will not deny Sabahans their rights.

"If we are able to give businessmen up to thousands of acres of land, why are we not able to grant land to locals for housing and agricultural purposes?" Shafie asked. He said this during a Sabah Land Development Board and individual land grant handing over ceremony in Semporna on Saturday . "It is sad to see so many Sabahans still having to live in dire conditions and squat in state or private lands,"he said.
