A men's clothing line faces backlash after debuting sweatshirts riddled with holes and bearing the names of schools known prominently for being the sites of school shootings.

Bstroy is described on its Instagram account as a"Neo-Native Menswear Design House." The co-founders, Brick Owens and Dieter Grams, about the intersection of hip-hop style and high fashion.

Owens, did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but after posting pictures of the collection to Instagram Sunday, he posted a message that read in part:"Sometimes life can be painfully ironic. Like the irony of dying violently in a place you considered to be a safe, controlled environment, like school."

Grams told NBC News that the designs were intended to treat the"incidents with reverence and respect." "At Bstroy we have always used our platform to shed light and begin conversations on overlooked issues from reality," Grams said."We wanted to make a comment on gun violence and the type of gun violence that needs preventative attention and what its origins are, while also empowering the survivors of tragedy through storytelling in the clothes."

"Art’s job is to wring emotion out," Grams said, adding that the company didn't originally intend to sell the sweatshirts"but that may change now."

Keeping people aware is a problem?

Looks like they have taken the position to show reward for the shooter

This doesn’t bring awareness, but rather glorifies these tragedies

Very insensitive!

Thugwear

whyfund Art is creating something that conveys a message from the artist to the observer. This totally qualifies. This is saying something & I hear it

Some people are brain dead

There is just no substitute for stupid!

Hopefully they go bankrupt. This isn’t ok I the least.

Shocking? Insensitive? Whatever it takes to convince lawmakers to pass gun control works for me.

Bstroy is brilliant !!

🤬😡

Yea......that's a bit crass.......

Are people seriously missing the statement here?

Horrible.

Extremely bad taste. What fool would wear one of these ?

So, a group of people sat down in conference room and reviewed this idea, then gave it a thumbs up? Five year olds have more sense.

i’ve been wearing those for years sorta

Tell me where to get one. I want to get more people outraged that there's a shooting and not that people are pointing out the fact that everyone seems to think this is the new normal.

How stupid can they be

No.

You can be mad but this is where we are. Be mad at the reality out of which a sweatshirt line was born.

Do this in remembrance of me... I hope part of the proceeds go towards the medical bills that these families has to endure.

In the Age of Trump 'bad taste' is extinct... Inappropriate is almost the tamest you can be.

It does profoundly bring awareness to the issue.

Wow... 😶

shirts bad assault rifles good got it derp

This is like a week old

In such bad taste.

Disgusting! Wtf is wrong with people who think this is ok?

Nobody seriously says, 'I gotta get me one of those', do they? I mean, it's like the plate sized belt buckle of rodeos; you have to win to wear.. Arugh......

We have a culture problem.

that's the point. it's supposed to make you mad about gun violence

Ok, but that could also just be, like, an old Virginia Tech hoodie.

Free publicity should teach em’

Manufactured outrage
