“It might create concerns within the business community that the government is prepared to intervene in decisions of individual companies when things get political,” IDEAS research director Laurence Todd told FMT. The new payment scheme does away with paying riders by the hour, although riders get more commission for every order delivered, from RM4.50 to RM7.

It's a dangerous precedent the government moving into..business is not a 30 second commercial but to some it's good business to portray

It was a necessary political gimmick but lets wait for the real decision to be made after all the gimmick. If somehow they interfere with the bussiness making them lost profit on the way, well then its a bad news for Malaysia economy. But if its not then good.

The_UglyOrgan This PHorno government has unshamefully been crony friendly since day one

Exactly right. Putrajaya should b looking at d law. Change d law so that all Malaysians will not b taken advantage of anymore. This govt must recognize d rising work/business trends n make d necessary adjustments. All companies r just working within the given set parameters.

A strong message is being made here, rightly or wrongly. Government regulation versus government interference!
