The vast majority of physicians are concerned the US' prescription drug addiction epidemic won't end with the opioid crisis:

of physicians fear the opioid crisis will be traded for a new prescription drug crisis or higher use of illicit narcotics.While doctors walk a thin line between wanting to prescribe effective pain treatment and concerns over drug abuse, 72% of physicians fear that if chronic disease patients don't have access to opioids, they'll turn to illicit drugs instead.

And while it's promising to know that major health CEOs were summoned to federal court on Friday for their roles in the opioid epidemic— litigation doesn't bring the healthcare system any closer to a chronic pain solution.
