Businesses across the country are reporting sky high cancelation rates as people react to the threat from the flames and smoky conditions facing many regions.
"We’ve surveyed our members and pulled together data from other industry organisations as well as what the private sector's been reporting," he said. Mr Westaway said the short to medium term impact is from the domestic market but the long term impact will be from the international market as there has been “cancellations and downward interest from traditional markets in terms of figures.”
Thanks Doomers.
What would you expect when the MSM explains Australia in a nutshell as 'burnt to a crisp'?
It;s not the bushfires impacting on tourism: they're a regular thing here in Oz. The problem has been the hysterical and apocalyptic coverage in our irresponsible media -led by the ABC and SBS, ably assisted by the likes of Russell Crowe and etc Hollywood snowflakes. ClimateHoax
Scott should be upset with the loss of jobs in Tourism. How about a few subsidies? Grants? Closing down industries that cost jobs?
Let's get ScottyfromMarketing on it. I'm sure he can come up with a great new tourism campaign. He could use INXS's Burn For You as the backing music.
How has the CrimeMinister ScottyfromMarketing responded to this? Has he started worrying about the hundreds of thousands of jobs that are affected yet?
gdgoz Have they thanked the PM
Hopefully someone on the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit will ask for a report establishing the cost to Australians of the bush fires and a separate report on what it would have cost to have taken the steps recommended by the experts to avoid such a catastrophe.
Sadly the ABC outrages politicising of these awful bushfires, made many people think all of Australia has burnt down, now the ABC is crying wolf, just really sad.
Remember the burnt starving animals in agony when you read this
How good's the cricket tho
