Despite privatising the power sector, the Federal Government has spent over N1.

7tn on the sector in the last three years, an interim report submitted to the National Economic Council indicated on Thursday.

He said after meeting for five times, the committee found that the problems of the power sector were enormous and required declaring a “national emergency” to find solutions. “Nigeria will go nowhere unless we have stable power. Right now, we shall invite members of the general public to also give their views by sending in memoranda to the committee. The owners of the power companies too, we will get their views.“The objective is: how do we fix the power sector?”

“There are other issues. The entire sector is broken. The tariff is an issue. The way the privatisation was done is an issue to many. The governor also said NEC gave a nod to the proposal to pull N2tn from the pensions fund for investment in infrastructure development. “We have N10tn in the contributory pension fund today, and it keeps growing because more young people are coming into the workforce”, he added.

FG partnering with private sector on power OR FG pumping g money into private business ? koyemi oh

Corruption government.

The power sector is draining pipe which government use to milk dry taxpayers money. Who are the foreign investors ?

Is this a commendation, compliment or indictment for dissipating tax payers' money on privatised firms that should have been responsible for raising their own funds without recourse to govt? After privatisation, govt. should set standards & regulate but not to fund inefficiency.

First decentralise the power 💪 sector then allow states that have capacity, to generate and distribute. Electricity is never a rocket 🚀 science

Supposing this wasted 1.7 trillion is used to subsidized solar power (may be 500watt panel) for Nigerians to use, will it not make some sense...

Audio money

Still not sure why a state governor should be chair a committee on privatisation of national assets. NEC is a national focused body afterall. Should El Rufai not be focused on the deaths currently plaguing his state. Just saying.

Shouldn't he be focused on the deaths currently plaguing his state. Just saying.

So so audio, Money that we don't see

Another legal scam

Mallam Hellrufai you should say FG pump 1.7tn into their pockets for Nigerians to remain in darkness. Heartless thieves.

Keep pumping money into your pockets and be deceiving yourselves.

Where is audio ex super minister? I think he said govt has no blame in our power woes and we should go to discos. So our naija money has been given to sector and we cant ask govt question?!!

The corruption with integrity. They are spending money and the national grid is collapsing like abiku. We are watching

'Privatised' Hahahaha

Is this man the minister of power now or it spokesman?

Oga should talk more about the security of his state. Cabals have excluded you and you are now seeking public sympathy

Toilet paper

The whole power privatisation exercise was just one more scam against Nigerians. The absence of capacity on the part of the new owners, and their continued lack of will except for money making puts the country's developmental efforts in a precarious position.

👏🏽👏🏽good one

Good governance from the most outstanding but our feature president insha Allah

Keep pumping air

Continue sir,keep pumping

I don’t think this heading justifies the state of affairs.

Yet power outage is still top notch 👌well done sir.
