International filmmakers and distributors are now eying Bong's triumphs with hope and hunger: hope that's success will open the door to global cinema, giving other non-English-language movies shots at the world's No. 1 film award; hunger for the sort of global box office returns that, with few exceptions, have been beyond the reach of films made outside Hollywood.

"It's been a real barrier," says Korean media mogul Miky Lee, whose CJ Entertainment backed Bong's film and who recently invested in David Ellison's Skydance. "Nowreally makes it easier. I think you overestimate how much the GP give a shit about who wins Oscars. Even those who notice will probably have forgotten which film won within a few months.TheArtist didnt make foreign films popular. Moonlight didnt boost LGBT films. Its not a game changer to Joe public

Enough with at non-English BS! If a movie is good, it is good regardless of the language spoken. Academy is confused. It is us who dictates the rules, not Academy. Quite frankly, if Academy wants to be taken seriously, they will delete 'foreign language film' category.
