The Canadian Chamber of Commerce says it's time for the government and police to step in and end the blockade near a major rail line by protesters supporting the Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs.

Last Updated Thursday, February 13, 2020 12:13PM ESTTORONTO -- A major Canadian business group says it's time for the government and police to step in and end the blockade near a major rail line by protesters supporting the Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs in their fight to stop a gas pipeline from running through their traditional territory without their approval.

There have also been substantial impacts on freight rail service. CN, which says the Belleville link is its only way of connecting Eastern Canada to Western Canada and the U.S. Midwest, will temporarily halt service along what it describes as "significant parts of its network." "Rail lines are in effect the circulatory system of the Canadian economy. We're talking about impact on business imports, consumer goods, items for export, perishable food items, Canadian natural resources and manufactured goods, Canadian grain, the chemicals that are used to de-ice planes or in water treatment plants in various communities, propane for communities in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

"The global investors looking at Canada are asking the question … do they not have a rule of law?" he said.

This has nothing to do with Wet'suwet'en solidarity. This is about foreign funded organizations working to destroy the Canadian economy while our less than useless PM turns a blind eye to the crisis, likely due to the fact the financial backer is his pal George Soros. cdnpoli

I wonder what would happen in our wonderful country, If non indigenous people blockaded highways and prevented goods and services from entering indigenous peoples land in the name of some cause. I wonder how quick the government would respond to that.

Things are about to get expensive. People need to start stockpiling food, water, medicine, fuel & other necessities. This could get messy for those unprepared for breakdown of our supply system. Transportation by truck causes inflation of everything with urban centres hit worst.

If protestors think they can stop trains and create civil disobedience with no repercussions - than what should stop any citizen who wants to make a citizens arrest and remove these people from the track. Maybe a citizens group should act if the RCMP does not want to enforce law

These people must be put in jail. Enough is enough

Provincially and Federally

Stupid!!! Never enough, never enough!!!

With the dictator away on one of his many vacations, no one in the government will do anything.

We now live in Syria?

😡👍🖕

Canada is a rudderless ship heading straight for the rocks.

They must have really good jobs to have so many vacation days!

Our government is incompetent and our police are ineffective. This is what anarchy looks like.

But will they stop financially supporting the Libturds ? Not likely

Blocking mass transit and forcing people to drive vehicles in the name of the environment? That'd counter productive.

Fire the cops that aren't doing their jobs.

The officials that can act to stop the protests don't realize how important the railways are to Canada. It is not just a group of undesirables blocking a railway line. It is an organized group that specializes in civil disobedience rendering the shutdown of Canada's economy.

'...fight to stop a gas pipeline from running through their traditional territory without their approval.' Here's the thing, CTV: They DID approve it. The people in the bands voted on it, and they voted to APPROVE it. Why do you keep twisting the truth on this?

Disrupting the lives of regular folk trying to get to work or home to their families is no way to get sympathy for your cause.

As they should. Doug Ford fordnation is asleep at the wheel, as usual. rcmpgrcpolice is enforcing court orders, OPP_ER are sitting in their cars eating donuts, watching illegal protestors. Has anyone even seen Doug Ford lately or did he go into hiding, cowering somewhere.

Criminal justice is no deterrence. Maybe civil courts are. It’s time to sue these protesters and their enablers for the impacts they’ve caused.
