President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a set of interventions to cushion the impact of the novel epidemic on the country’s already ailing economy.

The Solidarity Fund will have a board of eminent South Africans to ensure proper governance.coronavirus

He says that government will provide a seed capital of R150 million towards the Fund, which is also open to contributions from businesses, organisations and individuals. The President says “This will be the first phase of the economic response and further measures are under consideration and will be deployed as needed.”

You meant to say pandemic. One would expect a journalist to be able to differentiate the two.

I'm happy about the lockdown but my concerns are he spoke as if he was adressing a European country with 5% unemployment rate. Not every one in SA is a business person nor working for a private or public sector.
