“I think there has also been a stigma for women or even the gay community in general,” adds Masliah, “That all you want to do when you go out is have sex, and that’s really not it. At the moment, a lot of people just really want to go out and meet people, whether for friendship or a relationship. I think there’s a lot less judgment as to why women go out nowadays.”
In 2019, QueerGirl events completed its first Pride Tour, hosting events at Pride celebrations across the country. The company planned to do so again in 2020, though the current public health crisis leaves the fate of this year’s tour uncertain. “We are just taking it month by month and complying with any regulations that are put in place for the safety of our attendees,” says Greschler.Masliah wants to see QueerGirl events become so popular that people will travel to attend the parties. “I would love to have the diversity of the entire world traveling to all the QueerGirl parties just like they do for regular Pride events, just to always have that space for the queer community in the nightlife scene,” she says.
Greschler is dreaming even bigger. “I want to see QueerGirl essentially be the number one Pride party in every city in the world,” she says. “I also want to be seen as the leader of the newer generation.”
