Trump claims he was being sarcastic 'to see what would happen' when he suggested Americans might be able to ingest household cleaners to treat coronavirus

"I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute — one minute — and is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it'd be interesting to check that. So you're going to have to use medical doctors with — but it sounds interesting to me."

"As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body ," said a statement from Reckitt Benckiser, the British company that manufactures Lysol. The statement cited "recent speculation and social media activity."

The American Cleaning Institute also put out its own press release Friday "in response to speculation about the use of disinfectants in or on one's body." The Maryland Emergency Management Agency also posted an alert to Twitter on Friday saying it had "received several calls regarding questions about disinfectant use and #COVID19."

Besides sarcasm being the lowest form of wit you’d bear some responsibility if anyone dies trying. Either your words have influence or they don’t. Which is it?

I cant believe am reading this!

I call bulls...

Only FakeNews would believe or promote a narrative that would suggest that people should actually drink bleach.

Yeah, we believe him! The tremendous one!!

He seems to live in an alternative universe. In this one people weren't eating freaking Tide Pods back in 2018.

🧠

🤣🤣🤣 You people always fall for it! It's extremely entertaining to read/watch how he fooks with fakenews. I especially love reading the comments from the left who try to validate the lamestream media. I appreciate you people! Thanks for laughs! Trump2020 landslide

He needs to say that he meant the scientists should isolate the safe chemicals in the detergents for testing...😂😂 oh Trumpy

What a prize pillock... As a president of the USA you've disgraced your country. There is a time and place for joking around... this isn't it. Why are you making such a mockary of this situation... You need to stand down NOW!!! before you actually do more harm

lol...so he played the media and american people like a fiddle to test his nasty mouth reach.

Stupidity at its best, he's a dangerous leader.

NO, TRUMP SAID IT & MUCH MORE BECAUSE HE'S MENTALLY UNSTABLE & HAS BEEN EVEN BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED IN 2016! IF YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO SEE THE 'OBVIOUS' IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE JUST LIKE HIM... a sad & pathetic voter specimen.

😄

😅

Great, in a time where 50,000 Americans have lost their lives, partially respite Trump’s failure to respond, Trump thinks it’s a good time to make fun of the situation. What a deplorable person.

I suspect that sarcasm and trump have never met not that it's not nasty - but because it does require a modicum of intelligence

Schrodinger Douchebag: A person who says offensive things and decides whether he's kidding or not based on reactions
