The coronavirus pandemic hurt black-owned small businesses more than others — a major think tank found they dropped 41% in April

looked at nationally representative data from April 2020 to estimate how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted small businesses in the US.

The report found that the number of active business owners dropped 20% from February 2020 to April 2020, the largest drop on record. From February to April, black business owners saw a 41% drop, immigrant business owners saw a 36% drop, Asian business owners a 26% drop, female business owners 25%, and white business owners 17%.The report also found that in February, 13.6 million business owners were working over 15 hours a week. In April, only 9.8 million business owners were.
