Republic Act No. 11477 renews the franchise granted to Golden Broadcast Professional Inc. “to construct, maintain, and operate a station for FM radio and television broadcasting in the island of Mindanao and expanding its coverage to the entire Philippines.”
Under the new law, the concerned broadcast network must secure from the National Telecommunications Commission the appropriate permits and licenses for the construction and operation of its stations and facilities. The franchise holder must provide sound and balanced programming at all times, promote public participation, assist in the functions of public information and education, and conform to the ethics of honest enterprise. It must also promote audience sensibility and empowerment including closed captioning and not use its station for broadcasting obscene, indecent language, act, or scene.
