The data highlights a steady rise in women’s buying power that is fundamentally reshaping the South African property market, which was traditionally dominated by men.

In all, 58 percent of Leadhome’s buyer enquiries and 55 percent of seller enquiries are from women.

Today, there are more women in the workplace than ever before, and they’re buying homes - no matter the size of their salary. While women still lag men in some areas of the economy, it’s exciting to see the growing number of South African women who are asserting their right to home ownership. Leadhome’s data shows that women account for 45 percent of all property registrations while 7 percent are joint registrations.

In all, 25 percent of buyer enquiries and 22 percent of seller enquiries come from women in their 30s. Nearly half of people making offers on homes through Leadhome are in their 30s, and 26 percent are in their 40s.
