Former Vice President Joe Biden said that even though businesses are struggling, it was the right time to ask them to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour because the government needed to give money to businesses.President Trump said even though he would “consider to an extent” raising the minimum wage in a second term, he thought it should be decided by states.

“How are you helping your small businesses when you’re forcing wages? What’s going to happen, and what’s been proven to happen is when you do that many of these small businesses fire many of their employees,” Mr. Trump said. While the national pay floor of $7.25 an hour hasn’t been adjusted for a decade, 29 states representing about 60% of the workforce have set their minimum wage higher,

If you want $15 min wage, then you’ll pay for it in the end. That Big Mac at McDonald’s will cost you twice as much. Cashiers will be replaced by kiosk machines. Umm no thank you.

10/23/2020: I met Joe Biden for an hour to talk about his family business in China and have three phones to PROVE what he knew claims Hunter's former business partner just before presidential debate - as Democrat DENIES foreign dealings.

Absolutely not...but it would raise the entire wage scale for the nation

Sounds great. . . Let's force small businesses to pay out more while you shut down the economy, you makes perfect sense to me, why didn't I think of that sooner?

It’s funny because you’re just repeating them and then basically saying “let the engagement begin.” hungergames

Should be left to cities and states and $15 a hour living is still barely getting by then compared to living in the sticks in Alabama

Is this true

In Seattle the $15 minimum wage resulted in 6% earnings LOSS for low wage workers, and there were 5,000 fewer low wage jobs available. I can’t imagine the impact for less lucrative cities!

show Joe does not understand economics except for extortion. No matter how much you raise the minimum wage ITS STILL THE MINIMUM WAGE

Hmmm, who is writing these tweets inside WSJ? Anyways I don't even visit your website anymore like many others, perhaps this is why!

Yes, of course. Given fixed budgets for small business, raising payroll costs without increasing productivity and revenue can only effect layoffs in an attempt by businesses to try to maintain margins needed to make capital payments on fixed-assets.

Even more reason to vote for Biden! Let’s be real, the Wall St Journal doesn’t care about small businesses. Trickle down economics do not work. The top 1% has gotten WEALTHIER during the pandemic as millions and millions lose their jobs and homes. Trump has done this!!!

I don’t think even Boston can afford $15 an hour!!

Joe’s a socialist. His answer is big government everything. And that those who aspire to work at McDonalds flipping hamburgers should be paid $15 an hour. Well corporate America will automate most menial jobs right out of existence under Joe’s vision.

There is a deep correlation with poor business environment in states with higher minimum wages.

If you need worker that make non-liveable wage to have a business... Your business ain't shit.

You don’t leave the federal minimum wage up to the states. What a dope. TrumpIsALoser

I like it when people like the authors of this piece who have never made $15 or less like to talk about how businesses will fail if minimum wage is increased. Fascinating

Minimum wage is not job creation.

Samuel Morse wants his telegraph back.

Biden also said that small businesses needed to be bailed out. So there’s a balance there. Employees NEED a living wage and small businesses should get quicker help. Trump admin has been slow & ineffective. DebateTonight DumpTrump Biden VoteBiden

Vote & Retweet!

What Biden ACTUALLY said is that the bailouts that have been given to billionaires should be being given to small businesses to support increasing min wage so that people are able to support their families. Per usual.. y’all stay trying to muddy the waters 😒

The important thing is to cut taxes, not to give people money. Sending money can't solve the problem. Trump did what he really should do

I think Joe is lost in economics

Yea, he passes everything off to states to decide because he refuses to have any accountability

Raise minimum wage on businesses that can barely keep lights on. He has no clue

Joe doesn’t understand economics. JoeBiden Debates2020 DemDebate POSITIONS

$15/hr to flip burgers? Riiiiight.

Biden said it's the right time to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, even though businesses are struggling. Trump said he would “consider to an extent” raising the minimum wage, but that it should be decided by states. The Confederate states suffered bigly from a minimum wage

It should be the fucking states' matter. Like a great many other things the federal government mingles in.

Trump is right

401(k) plans again you’re gonna talk about that shit that’s for the wealthy the majority of the Americans that have been suffering in this pandemic don’t even have 401(k) plans! Latinos and African-Americans wake up vote Biden

So he wont raise it

a federal law for minimum wage would be great. but in the end, the employer and employee can negotiate. right?

Could have done without “even though businesses are struggling.” Do better WSJ

Should be up to the states.
