Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said more than RM14 billion had been spent on relief measures so far.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM14.58 billion in relief aid under the Penjana national economic recovery plan has been disbursed up to Nov 20, the Dewan Rakyat was told. Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said in a written reply that the money amounted to 42% of a total allocation of RM35 billion. He said RM7.15 billion had been spent and benefitted a total of 1.36 million recipients, while a total of RM5.54 billion had been disbursed to more than 40,000 businesses.

Measures aimed at stimulating the economy, amounting to a total of RM1.9 billion, had benefited about 11.36 million recipients, he said in reply Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid .Tengku Zafrul a special additional initiative of a total of RM10 billion had been announced in September, for the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional aid programme, wage subsidies of RM2.4 billion and special grants of RM600 million.
