Apple vs. Tesla? Apple's self-driving car will hit the market in 2024, according to Reuters

According to Reuters’ information, the car incorporates a new battery design that could radically increase the car’s range and decrease the car’s cost: both welcome news to electric car fans who are stuck with low-range options like the Nissan Leaf or expensive options like Teslas, with some other options in between.

This is, however, antithetical to Apple’s entire approach to its business, which has been to own as much of the supply chain as possible, and not license software to others. One of the potential breakthroughs: a battery technology called LFP, or lithium iron phosphate, which apparently is safer than lithium ion batteries and has the potential to offer greater range.Apple, which started in computers, is now a consumer electronics giant with a $2.2 trillion market capitalization.

After few years when battery gets old car will be slowed down to 20mph until you buy the next car

Will Apples car be named 'The Lemon' ?

Both companies cars will be too expensive.

Tesla spent over a decade perfecting the art of designing and manufacturing the EV. The only way for Apple to do it that quickly is.... what for it.... acquisitions.

So, Apple vs. Tesla in 2030 if Tesla chooses to do nothing for the next decade?

Apple doesn't know anything about cars!

VictoriaCot You'll buy it right?

Why dont they come together and make a super car....apple has the tech works covered while Tesla has the automechani covered 🤷‍♂️

Tesla tiene años por delante en I+D, le veo complicado que apple le iguale, pero sin duda va a ser una gran competencia.

Apple should have continued with significant investment in vearbles, home/assist devices with its associated software/AI base and app development for prognostic tools or else will crash! No EV, No Siri, but device / software compatibility with Tesla and Google products. End of Qt

They really won’t be competitors in very much. Apple won’t have glitchy software or build quality issues except for their maps.

floguardado 😱

I bet no, not for general public road use. Possibly for some special uses.

Apple has some of the best chips in the market in terms of performance/power efficiency and several billion dollars in cash. But they have lot of work to do to catch up. Tesla's got millions of miles of data to work with.

Apple is a fashion statement and nothing more.

With the left/right divide: You either compromise - or: - you let go of life as you knew it, let go of the houses, cars, jobs, toys and creature comforts - and fight it out in the streets and watch your friends and loved ones get killed in the process. That's it. Game over.

Will it stop randomly as you drive for mandatory software updates and require you to sit there while it reboots - like with their other products?
