An Abuja Mobile court Monday shut down the popular Wuse Market, the UTC and the Murg Shopping Plazas for violating the Presidential regulations on COVID-19.

Buhari, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon him by Section 4 of the Quarantine Act, Cap. Q2, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2010, and all other powers enabling him; and in consideration of the urgent need to protect the health and wellbeing of Nigerians in the face of the widespread and rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, issued Coronavirus Disease Health Protection Regulations 2021.

The court presided by Magistrate Idayat Akanni fined the violators N2,000 each, with an option of 2 weeks community service.Also speaking, the Head, Media and Enlightenment of the FCTA COVID-19 Enforcement team, Ihkaro Attah, said the situation at the shutdown markets were such that no responsible government would pretend not to see.
