The American government has struck a multi-million dollar deal with a Brisbane based company for its rapid at-home COVID-19 testing kit.

The product - which is manufactured by Ellume - was approved by US regulators last year. The company will produce 19 million kits a month as part of a $302 million agreement. The kits are reported to be 96 per cent accurate and can produce results in 20 minutes from a nasal swab.
