Many of us wish we were in person at this season’s fashion week, but alas. Discover Mark Kenly Domino Tan's oversized and beautifully crafted collection: CPHFW CPHFW

While various boundaries have been broken as a result of a digital fashion week, there are some things that just can’t be replicated via a camera…maybe it’s seeing the collections in real life, experiencing the electric atmosphere, or the ability to witness the designer's skill up-close. This season, this sentiment couldn’t be more relevant when looking at Danish designer Mark Kenly Domino Tan’s AW21 collection.

Tan is a firm believer that neutrals are the foundation of a wardrobe, as seen in his natural palette of black, grey, and ivory. With this colour scheme, Tan wanted to create items that one can incorporate into their wardrobe for years to come, by designing pieces that are made to last and that can be styled with others: “I really like the idea that a person at the age of 20 can buy a garment, and when the person turns 60, there will still be a coherency throughout the collection.

Tan believes in the importance of starting with the fabric first and emblematic of life at home, he worked with fabrics that were comforting and connecting, like herringbone tweed. Stemming from his background as a tailor, menswear silhouettes dominated throughout his hypnotic, trance-like show. He showcased his diverse, co-ed collection in an airy, open space which enabled full movement.

Getting down to business; oversized blazers with exaggerated sleeves stood alongside more tailored blazers, underlining how you always need more than one blazer in your wardrobe. These large blazers were draped over even larger button-downs, giving a uniform feel to each, through the use of fabric and colour.
