Overpayments totalling £6.3m made in 2015-16 alone were held by the SLC two years ago, but the latest figures show that more than £5m has still not been refunded.
Should be made to pay it back to students with interest. Be taken to court, prosecuted & fined & have their right to issue new student loans removed.
Simple solution: transfer the funds to the taxman who can credit every student’s personal income tax account and the credit will be used to offset future owed taxes. If they can use the taxman to collect payments, they can surely use that route to get refunds paid back.
