IPOH: The Kinta Night Market Association has lodged a police report over a viral message claiming they were not allowed to operate during the current movement control order (MCO).

“We were just setting up our stalls at the Rapat Setia night market when the text was forwarded to our chat group.

“Because of the message we lost business as only a small number of customers visited the market yesterday," he told reporters after lodging the report at the Manjoi police station on Thursday . According to Jaafar, the message contained a graph explaining how certain shops are allowed to open during MCO while night markets are not allowed to operate at all.“Most of the traders here have no other sources of income so when the message went viral, it caused us unnecessary panic.

“We have been complying with Covid-19 standard operating procedures and providing the best service to our customers," he said.Under MCO 3.0, night markets are allowed to operate between 4pm and 10pm. SOP must be adhered to with supervision from the local government or Rela personnel.
