A man whose business in the Launceston suburb of St Leonards was held up at gunpoint by two men for the second time in less than a year says there needs to be a greater police presence in the area.

It's the second time in less than a year that Mr Ahmed's business been targeted by an armed robbery.

"My kids they didn't sleep all night, I even didn't sleep all night, and I'm still not realising what happened to me yesterday.Mr Ahmed's family and friends urged him to not open his business on Sunday, but he said he wanted to continue serving his local community. "We don't have enough security. We don't have safety here, especially in St. Leonards crime is increasing and nobody is doing anything," he said.

"For example yesterday if the police officers in St Leonards weren't working, they would still come from Launceston, so the model that we use is you base them centrally, a short distance away," Inspector Johnston said.

The ABC needs to amend its language and stop Making News Racist

A what day, what run business, they noooo I need more sleep I swore that said a migrant run business.

Absolutely no indication it's a race motivated attack, there are plenty of places getting multiple robberies of many races. It an indication of increased crime not racist motivated.

Successive governments flood the country with unwanted foreigners then people act surprised when this happens.

The media is the enemy of the people. Their constant lying and manipulation techniques are so evil and disgusting.

Is ABCNews insinuating the business was robbed because it's 'Migrant-run'? The title seems to suggest that's the case; however, nothing in the article suggested this robbery was racially motivated...

You're so shit, ABCaustralia

The culprits are probably out on parole 2nd or 3rd offence. They are the victims as they probably had a hard up bringing not like those capitalist shop owners. That’s what the ABC attempts to portray regularly.

that's such a pity .. Launceston seemed like a nice town but I suppose you get racists everywhere

'Inspector Nathan Johnston from Tasmania Police said there was no reason for people in the St Leonards area to be concerned for their safety' there you go, fears debunked

Remember when they used to describe people as 'new Australians'? None of this race baiting migrant language.

Unfortunate for the victims, but let’s see the ABC spin this out to be about racism! Iseeracismeverywhere notmyABC

Are the robbers described as Indigenous or ethnic European or ethnic Asian?
