Stakeholders say most businesses are already suffering under the third MCO and will likely shut down without further government assistance. FMTNews Tourism

PETALING JAYA: Stakeholders in the tourism industry say it will be difficult for them to sustain operations until the end of October, when domestic tourism is expected to take off under the last phase of the national recovery plan.

The tourism, arts and culture ministry allows licensed travel agencies to venture into other businesses to sustain themselves. The Malaysian Association of Hotels said in a statement sent to FMT that it remained hopeful since the government had laid out a roadmap based on data and science to allow the tourism industry to plan ahead for its recovery.

“Having sustained losses for more than a year now, we will not be able to endure another six months and this will likely result in more hotels closing and more people losing their jobs if there is no additional assistance from the government.” Malaysian Budget Hotel Association president Emmy Suraya Hussein said budget hotels were severely affected long before the enforcement of the third MCO. She blamed the inter-district travel ban.

Only one word , GAGAL

Hotel is one of the workplace that we don’t really hear got Covid cluster, but the travelling involved in tourism is risky and something need to be done to help the workers who are almost 100% local

The actions the government is doing to curb spread of Covid is not giving us reason to hold on just despair. The recent plan announced is just a recycle of previous actions given new names. Nothing will change if we keep repeating doing the same thing MuhyiddinYassin MKNJPM

Melingkup very simple,to maintain not many..

This is absolutely true. A blanket shut down destroys everyone regardless of risk. Surely certain hotels shld b allowed to open in July for staycations at least. Many of them have NEVER had a covid case. So why shut them down if they follow SOPs and operated below capacity.

Terima kasih krjn prihatin

They know but they don't care.. only selfish political survival

Ramai x dpt bertahan sampai hujung tahun... seriously bebal... percepat vaksin, tgk balik data sapa penyebab cluster besar itu yg di tutup bukan semua dera rakyat x habis2. Dh setahun takkan x buat analysis.. bodoh.
