Passengers will be allowed to choose whether to ride with a taxi driver who is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus in a move announced by taxi company 13cabs in a bid to increase vaccine uptake among employees.

13cabs has told its drivers they will soon be able to offer a “VAX” option for customers once they are fully inoculated.

Mr Overell further said 13cabs was “confident” the vaccine requirement would prompt the majority of their cabbies to get vaccinated. He said 13cabs was taken by surprise in the number of taxi drivers who had been “proactive” and already received a vaccination.
