Read Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi's memo on the company's engineering leadership shakeup

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi just wrote a memo telling employees what's next for Uber's engineering group.Uber's Chief Technology Officer Sukumar Rathnam iswrote a memo to Uber staff detailing what's next, including having the engineering team report directly to him while the company seeks a replacement. I wanted to share the news that Sukumar just sent to his team below, announcing that he'll be leaving Uber in a few weeks.

With this change, the Engineering leadership team will report directly to me. I've also asked Sundeep to manage Delivery Eng on an interim basis while we finalize recruiting a new leader for that team; Sundeep previously pitched in leading engineering teams and knows our Delivery products inside and out, so he will be able to jump right in.

My focus over the next several months will be to continue the great work that the teams have done on Eng fundamentals, to make sure that our 2022 planning process is well aligned with business priorities, to bring in a lead for our Delivery team, and to continue our momentum in building our Eng teams and headcount. We have enormous opportunities as well as challenges ahead of us, and we want to build on our Eng capabilities to take them on.

It's never easy saying goodbye but the time has come for me to say farewell as I am leaving Uber.

All of my direct reports will now report into Dara, while Sundeep will step in to cover Delivery Engineering. I will be available for the next couple of weeks to help with the transition. Are you an insider with insight to share? Got a tip?
