Victorian business owners say financial support promised by the government has been hit by delays for weeks, and now sole traders and small companies are having their payments cut.

A petition to reinstate the $2,800 minimum weekly payment has gathered more than 1,800 signatures.

"It's incredibly stressful, because how do we tell our landlords, lease companies, our electricity companies or gas companies that we can't pay you this week, as promised, because we haven't received the grant money from the government," he said. The Victorian government said processing of initial BCAP5 payments had taken longer than previous rounds because of the extra work needed to confirm eligibility and payment amounts, due to factors including regional local government areas entering and leaving lockdown and a new tier of payments.

Bridges Robinson Roe, who owns the Beauty Platform in Mill Park, told the ABC he last received a fortnightly payment on September 14.

Business wants nothing to do with government when times are good. It's rugged individualism on the way up (no the workers can't share in any of the profits) and it's socialism, we are all in this together on the way down.

The Tesla is an interesting choice of vehicle!

I feel sorry for him. i wish my tax was going towards his Tesla payments

Is that why he has a tesla ?

Long time to leave the car door open imo

Is the $25b given to businesses who didn’t need it not enough?

That support starts at a Federal level and Victoria doesn’t count with the LNP, they were at the back of the queue this whole time. Get with the bigger picture !

And people who made wooden buckets lost out to metal buckets and metal bucket makers lost out to plastic buckets, I am sick of bleating business owners demanding money because the world has changed. Did typists get compensated when PCs removed their roles?

And like most government “pledges of f support” it’s just another announcement 📣

He can afford a Tesla, He could afford to make his business more resilient. My sympathy really isn't with the rich business owners. My sympathises lie with the actual workers.

He would be good mates with Daniel, govt support & Tesla ……. Well done , guess we should all apply tooo

I wish I was poor enough to drive a Tesla!! If you're a non essential worker, then it's just bad luck. It shows where you sit within the community. Maybe sell your Tesla and live off that for awhile.

He owns a Tesla. The cheapest model is $60000.

Also did the ABC check to see if his Vic Liberal party membership is paid up?

Not a great look to be photographed leaning on his Tesla ……. Begging for a government handout. He would probably complain about those in genuine need on Centrelink assistance.

He's jokin

Struggling to make the Tesla repayments...

How hard has he been hit if he is still driving what looks like a Tesla? So many people have been hit hard by the pandemic. Some have had to rely on charities for cooked food each day as they have no income at all. Seriously, ABC, you suck.

Why should he and others be entitled to taxpayers money 💰?
