Vice Pres. Kamala Harris has announced that the Biden administration is investing $1.5 billion from the coronavirus aid package to address the health care worker shortage in underserved communities.

The money, which includes funds from the American Rescue Plan and other sources, will support more than 22,700 providers, marking the largest number of providers enrolled in these programs in history, according to the White House. It comes in response to recommendations laid out earlier this month by the White House's COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force, which issued a report outlining how the administration could address systemic inequality in the health care system.

“COVID-19 did not invent health disparities. Just ask any healthcare professional and she will tell you: Health disparities existed long before this virus reached our shores. Health disparities stem from broader systemic inequities,” she said. During the Monday event, Harris pushed for passage of President Joe Biden's nearly $2 trillion social safety net and climate change package, which would provide funding to temporarily close the Medicaid coverage gap and expand access to health insurance marketplace subsidies through 2025.

Didn't They contribute to the shortage by mandating workers who worked through the worst parts of covid are now not welcome to continue working.

Nurses shortage has been ongoing before the Reagan days! Nothing new. Legit schools can only graduate a few number of students with the amount of faculty willing to work for peanuts 🙄.

Yeah after more than half of the health care works were FORCIBLY fired.

I guess that's why Biden has open borders - bring in more workers

Do the hard workers of our country get anything, or do we just get to pay.

Looking forward to your full coverage of this on . It’s important that news networks report on the VP and her work for America.

Her pockets are deep.

VP JoeBiden Why has the US focused exclusively on mRNA vaccines, if they insist one must be taken, and overlooked others? Reference

Is part of the shortage due to unnecessary mandates? At this point, the vaccine appears to do a good job of preventing more serious disease but does little for transmission. It really just protects the vaccinated individual. There are options that don’t require a mandate.

Yay! Let's fire a bunch of them for not letting the federal government force them to take a useless shot!

Sadly it's not just underserved communities. There are nursing shortages everywhere
