The trial of former spokesperson for the uMkhonto wesizwe Military Veterans Association, Carl Niehaus, in connection with an alleged violation of COVID-19 regulations, is due to start in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.This was after former President Jacob Zuma was incarcerated at the Estcourt prison to serve a 15-month jail term for contempt of court.

After his arrest, Niehaus was asked to pay a fine but refused and opted that his case be tried in court.Last year, the African National Congress dismissed Niehaus from the party. Niehaus said he believes that he is being targetted by the party for his knowledge of illegal activities related to the non-payment of staffers.VIDEO: ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe confirms Niehaus’ dismissal:
