If the attacks on the freight industry persist, it may be necessary to shut the industry down until they stop. | WitnessKZN

That’s the extreme measures that the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry is threatening, while government resolves matters relating to ongoing truck shutdowns.

This comes after local truck drivers, led by the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa , embarked on a march and shutdown last week. Members of the ATDFASA marched to the bargaining council offices last week in various provinces to demand that the industry does away with the employment of foreign nationals.Subscribe to News24 for just R75 per month to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism. WitnessKZN Foreign workers get paid much less are easy to exploit so instead of laying proper salaries of around 12k these freight operators get away with 5-6k sometimes even less. I fully support the movement to hire local drivers only.

WitnessKZN Are all the drivers the owner's of the trucks that partake in these protests

WitnessKZN There is systematic destruction of many economic activity sectors, freight, transport construction etc. The gov promises to stop it but instead looks the other way . Why is it complicit?

WitnessKZN Use rail and get those disgusting trucks off the N3

WitnessKZN Imagine we had a working rail network, connecting our major cities and minor towns so that we didn't have to only rely on road transport... Imagine

WitnessKZN Rubbish. _T_A_S_A will NOT shutdown. We don’t report to you

WitnessKZN 100% agreeing with you

WitnessKZN These trucks bring in food and medicines, amongst others, so attacks on freight need to be considered as domestic terrorism, as they violate our quality of life as described in our constitution.

WitnessKZN Wat a good move

WitnessKZN They can shut down and go open in their favourite African countries. To operate in SA they must follow the law

WitnessKZN Better shut it down it doesn't benefit SAns!!

WitnessKZN Let it shut down, it does not benefit SAns mos. It's better if we all lose. PutSouthAficansFirst simple as A.B.C OperationDudula

WitnessKZN Yes they must shut it down if the problem can't be fixed

WitnessKZN

WitnessKZN Let them shut down

WitnessKZN Really

WitnessKZN The joke is if we hadnt destroyed our railway system half of the trucks wouldnt be on the road....

WitnessKZN Shut down and then Close the bloody borders that YOU PEOPLE whanted open after 94. We whities warned you but you didnt want to listen. 🤣🤣🤣

WitnessKZN Maybe the total shutdown is a wakeup call for this government to deport all illegal immigrants to reserve jobs only for locals, and to weakeup homeaffairs department to speed up verifications control and deportation we 10 millions foreigners some with fake pprs &most are illegal

WitnessKZN Let it shut down if the want to hire Foreigners

WitnessKZN To shut down or burn down is not the answer help fix the problem that starts in 1994 free for all now we must live with a R350 because of no jobs, we think government create jobs they creates chaos for poverty.

WitnessKZN No words

WitnessKZN That will never happen.
