The State of Disaster, which was implemented began on the 15 of March 2020, was introduced to deal with the COVID–19 pandemic outbreak.Some of the restrictions of the state of disaster will remain for the next 30 days, while legislation is being put in place to address issues relating to the pandemic.

Gwaruse adds: “And so we are cautiously welcoming the lifting of the state of disaster because of course its got other impacts, it’s got other ramifications in terms of tourism numbers, in terms of businesses, in terms of being able to retain jobs and in terms of us being able to get back to normality.”
