To support a new generation of Black business owners, lived experience is key. It takes walking a mile in a Black entrepreneur’s shoes to understand their needs — and start addressing the inequities impeding their success. Opinion

A year ago, our organization Futurpreneur set out to move the starting line for Black entrepreneurs with the launch of the Black Entrepreneur Startup Program. The goal was to establish a program that supports young, Black entrepreneurs across Canada who, due to historic and persistent systemic barriers, are disproportionately underfinanced, undersupported and too often underestimated.

It takes walking a mile in an entrepreneur’s shoes to truly understand their needs and challenges — and to start addressing the inequities impeding their success. Two Futurpreneur board members identify as Black, as do 22 per cent of the senior leaders and more than 18 per cent of the pan-Canadian staff, including members of the Black Entrepreneur Startup Program team, led by Mona-Lisa Prosper.

Article talks about 'pesistent systematic barriers' for 'Black business' in Canada I wonder what are they? Does ServiceOntario deny business licenses? Do banks deny loans? Do consumers choose business based on a race of a proprietor? IMO, this piece a textbook race-baiting
