While RuPaul may reign supreme as the drag superstar of the world, it’s become increasingly clear that you don’t have to be the queen bee to make a nice little honeypot of your own.

The growth of the drag queen industry has had the sort of trickle-down effect Reagan Republicans can only dream of. “These queens have created so many jobs for people,” Charpentier says. “Assistants and tour managers and wig makers and stylists and wardrobe makers. There’s this whole economy now of people now who have jobs and make a living because of drag, which did not exist before.”

And so the queens continue their pursuit of world domination, with the help of PEG rather than mother Ru. Monét’s taping a comedy special on June 17; Bob has a book calledon an extensive tour this fall.
