British Gas will give 10% of its energy profits to its poorest customers - here's how the scheme will work

The boss of its parent company Centrica, Chris O'Shea, has announced that 10% of its energy profits will go to its poorest consumers.

"We don't have a silver bullet and we know this fund can't reach everyone. But I believe it can help make a real difference for those who really need our support," Mr O'Shea toldPayments between £250 and £750 will be sent to ten of thousands of British Gas customers that it believes will struggle. Soaring energy prices have been driven by large demand as countries came out of Covid lockdowns and the fallout from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Government has given a £400 non-repayable grant on energy bills, applied in six instalments between October and March.Tory leadership contest is 'callous' and 'self-indulgent' amid cost of living crisis, says Utilita boss

That’s kind of them !!!

You only meet the criteria if you are on a means tested benefit (like UC) - if the DWP/Jobcentre plus have put you on contribution based new style ESA you don’t qualify - you get NOTHING

Interesting it’s British Gas profits and not British Gas owners profits. Big difference there! scam

The customers who are already getting the payments towards their bills?

…. But, will keep 90% of its PROFITS. They think we were born yesterday.

Or, and this is a controversial idea, but they could lower their prices and stop taking so much profit for themselves!

So the usual mobs get even more cash!

Who decided who is poorest it’s a disgrace

All customers !
