Julie Rose added her painting skills to her woodworking projects and, through some trial and error, has created something she’s proud of, her business, Follow Your Heart Woodworking.

Julie Rose, of O’Leary, P.E.I., has created a business where she features her own woodworking as well as the work of 35 other Island artisans.O'LEARY, P.E.I. — Julie Rose has been making things since she was young. She has always been a creative person, having done many crafts, including painting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting.Although Rose took cabinetmaking at Canadore College in North Bay, Ont., she also gained her woodworking skills through hands-on experience.

Through this business, Rose makes and hand paints original items out of wood, including signs, lighthouses, ornaments, buoys, and tables. Handmade ornaments are popular keepsakes that tourists pick up when visiting Julie Rose’s woodworking shop in P.E.I. - ContributedThe “Makers” feature is a weekly look at Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs who are tapping into the creative marketplace.
