The Co-op Country Store in Bible Hill has shut down as of Saturday, Oct. 29. - Brendyn CreamerBIBLE HILL, N.S. — Cavanagh's Food Market was a community staple in Bible Hill for decades.

To the dismay of many, the building has been deemed structurally unsound after damage sustained from post-tropical storm Fiona. Due to this, the former food market has been shut down indefinitely, with the Co-op Country Store closing its operations in Bible Hill until management can find a new storefront.

“We’ve been all over, we’ve been talking to real estate people, and there doesn’t seem to be a lot available right now that suits the needs that we have. We have looked at some properties, but with such short notice, it’s tough to find a place.”Shawn Cavanagh, Lloyd Cavanagh’s son, owns the building. He spoke of the damage that the building sustained during the storm.

Shawn was happy to see people reminiscing over social media about his father’s market and the Co-op Country Store that followed. In the wake of it shutting down, he has also been looking back at his memories.
