Did Mida send messages on WhatsApp, Telegram and other social chat applications to advertise an investment scheme?

In a post on its official Facebook account on Wednesday , Mida said that those who receive such messages, or those who are added into chat groups bearing certain suspect characteristics, should not be fooled.

"There are many fake accounts for scam purposes that claim to be from Mida. Please be careful and do not deal with the accounts or reveal any personal information," it added in the post. Those who have received messages by parties claiming to represent MIDA are advised to contact the investment development authority through the accurate channels.

Mida can be contacted at +603-2267 3633 /+603-2267 3730, and reports of such instances can be e-mailed to investmalaysia@mida.gov.my.
