In China, Apple garnered a 25 percent market share in October according to Counterpoint's report. Meaning 1 in every 4 phones sold is an iPhone!According to Counterpoint Research's Monthly Market Pulse Service, Apple had its highest monthly market share at 25 percent and was the top OEM in China for the 2nd consecutive month in October 2022. Apple's sales increased 21 percent month-over-month in October, but they decreased for other significant OEMs.
Over the past 2 years, Apple's market share in China has increased to unprecedented heights. In November and December 2020, as well as in October, November, and December 2021, it attained a record monthly market share. Notably, 2020 was also the year that Huawei was subjected to US sanctions. An expert commented that despite China's market being sluggish due to macroeconomic and COVID-19 lockdowns, Apple managed to ride the wave and defy the market trend. It also means that the premium segment, Apple's territory, remains resilient even during trying times.
Apple also took advantage of HUAWEI's decline due to the trade bands imposed on the latter. The iPhone 14 series started off well and continues to perform better than previous models as well.
