We did it! We got through the holidays and 2023 is right around the corner! We got through 2022, low wages, bad supreme court decisions, inflation, and gas price increases notwithstanding.
A few common challenges people face before any new year begins include heightened stress and anxiety; feelings of isolation and loneliness; pressure to be perfect; grief, shame and disappointment at not achieving the previous year’s goals. 2. Self-care is also vital. If you’re feeling like you are drowning, then stop and take time for yourself. Start watching a tv series or movie you’ve been putting off. Or go for a walk or take a nap. Play a game, or even take yourself out for lunch or treat yourself and get your hair done! Putting yourself and your needs first is not only ok but essential.
4. Making attainable goals is my last suggestion. We must learn from the past, live in the present, but actively plan for the future. We must also celebrate the small wins with the big. New Year’s is a time of reflection, both past and future. Its when most people make a lot of goals for themselves, which is good.
