Shell reported a blockbuster profit of almost $40 billion in 2022, double what it took in the previous year.

Shell made a record profit of almost $40 billion in 2022, more than double what it raked in the previous year after oil and gas prices soared following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Europe’s largest oil company by revenue reported adjusted full-year earnings of $39.9 billion on Thursday — more than double the $19.3 billion it posted in 2021 — driven by a strong performance in its gas trading business. The company’s stock was up 2.6% in London at midday.

By comparison, it spent around $21 billion on its low- or zero-carbon businesses last year, or approximately one third of total expenditure, chief financial officer Sinead Gorman told reporters in a call on Thursday. Of that, about $4 billion was invested into its Renewables and Energy Solutions business, which includes electricity generation, hydrogen production, carbon capture and storage, and the trading of carbon credits.

but I thought it was all Joe Biden's fault

They’re legally mugging people.

That Russian oil helps

Republicans: Biden did that!!! Shell: Yes…..yessss Biden did that 😈

So they gave all their employees raises right? Trickle down right?🙄

mcspocky Some how, some way this will be Biden’s fault.

And you wonder why the price of gas is high

Brought to you my Pfizer.

Because we pay more for the fuel they still get cheap. There was no reason prices should have gone up.

Africa

How much did their operating cost change?

Reminder: law makers refused to do anything about this price gouging because they are owned by the oil industry

Recession? Banks, oil companies… making great profits this year. Who can explain it?

Yeah, that’s because they’re crooks if the government can’t control these independent companies, then they need to build offshore oil rigs in the golf and control the price that’s because everyone is rich, including the Democrats and they’re making money

Hello to gouging of the consumer.

That so called inflation… 🤦‍♂️

If the government had 20 billion of that they would have wasted it in an afternoon meeting about how they need more still.

10% for the big guy

There is no inflation people, it's just the rich robbing the world blind.

So, what you're saying is that the gas industry price gauced the shit out of people in the name of 'inflation' and no one is going to jail for it because they bought politicians?

This makes me sick!

Why won't they make more profits when they hoard products n increase price.

Global fuel crisis. Price increases. Record profits. Ok what do we need to do to stop these people robbing us?

E noi paghiamo

And this👇was from only a couple years ago… their ripoff game only gets stronger 🤮
